I tried the unlock on my Verizon M8, with CID VZW__001, and got the following output

Starting bootloader unlock procedure
Phone detected, reading token...
Token detected successfully
Checking server connection...
Communicating with the XTC 2 Clip ...
Connecting to the server...
Waiting for the server to process request, it may take up to 5 minutes...
Your request was processed successfully! Unlock token has been obtained
Sending flash unlocktoken unlocktoken_HT435SF03725 . bin
Execution time is 151(ms)
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)... OKAY
writing 'unlocktoken'... FAILNot support on this device!
FAILED (remote: Not support on this device!)
Error: The unlock token was not accepted by the phone. Try to re-calculate it again.

So, first of all it failed for some reason.

Also, I'm wondering if it had been successful, would it have wiped my data?

P.S. There was no spaces between "unlocktoken_HT435SF03725 . bin" - but with only 3 posts, the forum thinks it is a link.

Hello,
Some firmware/hboot versions do not allow bootloader unlock.
Usually you can simply reflash with any other generic firmware and then do the unlock.
And yes, it will wipe the data as it's needed for the unlocking process to be done, sorry.

It's not a very good idea, because in most cases you will mess your phone.
However, you can change the modelid on some phones after S-OFF using writemid command.
