How I repaired my killed V3 (empty Flash) with free solution!!! - GSM-Forum

Some people of you followed my disaster with my first unlock of a V3! Unexpierenced I made many stupid mistakes and at last phone was killed, because flash was completly empty! The only smart thing I made, was, that I made a full backup of phone with Flashbackup 2.62 (btw: great soft!)

I played much days with different software, which I found free on net, which are working with normal USB-cable! Nothings seemed to help!

But today I had an idea, to restore the phone! The problem was, that no soft can flash the phone, only erasing of flash was possible! The only soft, which flashed the phone without problems was RSD Lite 2.5. I used following repair flash from motofon.ru: R374_G_0E.40.30I_GNPO_11_RFDI_PDS002_LP0003_DRM000 1_GMMV3xx000AA019_GNPO_image.shx
This was the only file I found with integrated bootloader (07.E0). Maybe there are more, but I didnt found! Maybe this is a *******-file? For me it was perfect! This file flashed into phone gets phone half alive, with software and bootloader! The only thing missing, was the original PDS area, of course! But this I had as binary backup on my PC. But how to get into phone, there seems to be no way! Maybe with any commercial solution, but I dont have!

Now to my idea:
I noticed, that RSD Lite extracts some images from .shx-File! I took a look into these images with hexeditor! I found the image of CodeGroup6, that seems to the pds-part! I dont know why RSD flash this part into phone, but I made a try to replace this image with my original PDS-backup! I renamed it and replaced the original image of CodeGroup6, during RSD was erasing the flash of phone!
So RSD flashed my original PDS into phone! The problem was, that RSD compares the checksums after flashing and noticed my trick, so RSD didnt complete, but kindly gave me the message, what checksum file have to be and what checksum the phone has. So I modified my file, that checksum of my PDS-File has the same as the image, which RSD extracts, by replacing zero´s instead FF at the end of PDS-Zone! The checksum is over the complete 64k PDS zone 8 bit added!
Now I flashed the phone again with RSD and replaced my modified PDS-Zone-File during erasing of flash and the phone flashed it again into phone and now all checksums were ok, phone rebootet and was alive! It has original IMEI and everything seems to be alright and I can recover phone as much I want, even with completly erased flash! Cool!

Now my last problem is, that phone is still locked and I need a software with german language! Maybe anybody can help me?

I used Flashbackup on Sunday to restore my PDS.

Just went to BACKUP tab in Flashbackup 2.62, then BROWSE and selected my PDS backup file, then OPEN and then RESTORE.

I didn't have to do any of this checksum editing malarkey.

Have a look for yourself I'm sure you'll see that Flashbackup 2.62 could have done it for you.

No, for me flashbackup didnt work! I tried everything with all versions all loaders, but didnt succeed to restore my pds! I even tried with different bootloaders in phone, but no soft was able to write anything to phone! Only rsd lite was able to write shx files into phone!
I thought, that other people has same problem, so I wrote down my solution to forum to help! Maybe it´s not very hot solution, but maybe anywhen anybody will read it and can use it for restoring his phone, because he has same problems!

U are right flashBackup doesn't work correctly for writing in RAZR V3 but it read it correctly,next time you want to restore your PDS backup convert it to SHX format in order you can restore it with pst.

I have full and rds backup, however when I am trying to restore I am first getting warning message that it is wrong RDS, and when I am overwriting this flashbackup 2.62 just stoped forever and never progressed with restoring.

I tried flash with MMF, simply failed.

Any idea, help. I dont know what bootloader is there, since I cant see the screen. It is recongnized by MMF as empty Neptune phone.

Please please, ideas and as more explanation as possible, since I am newbie.

FIRST OF ALL THX.

I uploaded file v3-backups-olegv24.zip to http://www.rapidshare.de/

It has both FULL and RDS backups.
One more piece of information.

Before phone failed (and this is what is on backup) the bootloader was downgraded to 070D.

Since after failer I tried to flash it from MMF (which didn
t help) I am not sure which bootloader is currently on the phone.

Anyway I got info, but not RFID. shx.

Additional question. When in the past I tried to flash with RSD, it was going 1st part and trying reboot phone to continue flash.
However it was not able to reboot phone. So it asked to do it manually.
However manually means take battery out (since buttons are not reacting), and this was stopping RSD.

All this happens before I did RFID, so may be the things will be different now.
Any opinions?

Hi,
I applied all 3 steps.

NPO_image
booloader 070d
and my extracted and combined PDS

As a result when telephon is powering open, it is showing gray screen only
I could go in bootloader mode as well, showing 070d version.
SW version: R374_G_OE.42.10R

So, it is indeed a progress, but what should be the next step? Flexing the phone with other SW version? But this will upgrade bootloader as well....

Any ideas?

Today I killed my v3 again to make some tests! It was only possible to restore the phone with R374_G_0E.40.30I_GNPO_11_RFDI_PDS002_LP0003_DRM000 1_GMMV3xx000AA019_GNPO_image.shx, because it has integrated bootloader, pds-zone and good RAM-Loader which alway flashs without problems! Tests with other images failed with different error messages in rsd lite!

@Oleg: I´m creating your repairflash in this moment! I will send you rapidshare-link with pm in some minutes!
