Exclamation GID locking story!

Hello all!

It's me again, and let's read a story about GID locking!.

GID stands for Group Identifier Level. Your SIM card can contain two Group Identifiers GID1 and GID2. These two files can only be edited by the Service Provider.

However the lock in the phone is *changable*
Note: it's *changable* so you cannot remove the lock! You can change the GID lock as many times as you want. To do this switch the lock from USER to FACTORY every time you want to change the lock.

For changing the lock you need to know what GID file is on the card that you will be using in the future.
Note: You WILL need to know 4 characters of the file. Each file can contain upto 16 characters. Nokia only uses the first 4 characters of the GID file. If you use the first 2 characters the phone WILL NOT accept the card.

SIMcards witch do not contain GID files cannot be edited and can not be used in previous GID locked phones, because you can not remove the GID lock (only change!)

To read the GID file from the SIMcard you need a DUMBMOUSE with can be found at: http://cuba.xs4all.nl/hip/

The software varies. I use a german version witch is called GSM-station (witch I DO NOT distribute!!)

regards,
MrProdent
