Which 68hc11 Interfaces and Programs?

Which interfaces and programs are people using to successfully read hc11's.
Links would be appreciated (if allowed).

It goes through all the motions as though it should work, it just doesn't get past the bootloader stage.
Just sits there with the booting attemps steadily increasing.

It is a working set, the reason it is in for repair is a CD fault.
When powered up on the bench it is displaying "cancheck" so I don't expect any problems with the proc.

The other thing I may be having an issue with, is that I am using a USB>serial interface too.
This may well be inducing a timing issue.

AHH! yes! there are two types of adapter one uses hardware and the other uses software... both identicle in looks, both 9pin to usb but the cheap one's use a software emulation and don't work with programmers..
The best one to use is the 9pin com port from Maplin.. a little black adapter.. works a treat..

Here's a pic for you...

The one I have uses the Prolific driver rather than the FTD2xx driver.
It does work with other programs though.

Do you know if yours uses the Prolific driver or the FTD driver?
It should show up in device manager which one it is using.

I'll try it on a PC with a real serial port, see if that makes any difference.
