Some operators have cards where the credit is controlled at the SIM level.

In old (not so old days) there was several ways to "beat the scheme":

1 - "Chip" the phone so it wouldn't send the info for the card to debit the number of credits

2 - Clone the card and use the cloned one without credit control

These days are over... operators have control on their side and won't let you issue calls when your credit is out.

Some execeptions are... for instance... on P Vodafone (268-01) the phone won't let you call voicemail or customer support when you're out of credit on the card (they are free numbers). With the cloned card and unlimited credit (credit=0 at the operator) you can make these calls. But not others... If you try to do others they'll get to you...

Nokias at least don't let you issue these free calls with credit=0. Maybe some phones are smarter and are better "AdviceOfCharge-aware" and cut other calls which have billing... don't know really...

Bottom line... cloning for free calls is useless...
