N95 8gig help

I see so many people have been able to flash but I have not been able to yet
I just got my Genie and I downloaded the latest Phoenix and am trying to reflash a dead N95 8Gig.
When I first tried it, I got the error:
Error: Timing Values were not passed to an FLE5 function that uses MODE_CONFIRM
I replaced RAPIDOv11_2nd.fg with the one that's on the support FTP site but now I get: "Error: FIASCO file contains no Flash Descriptor"
What the heck do I have to do to get it working???? I also tried on a live N78 but I get the same thing

Anyone got ideas?

If no one is having this issue and you are able to flash, please post the steps of how you installed phoenix and the drivers so at least I can see how installed everything differently. THanks!!

That's the one I had before and so I tried upgrading. Am I doing something wrong for my installation steps? Here's what I did

1) I removed old Phoenix (2008_20_9_34260.exe)
2) Uninstalled FLS-4 drivers, nokia flashing drivers and tools drivers
3) Installed Phoenix 2008.34.6.35199
4) Replaced RAPIDOv11_2nd.fg file with the one from the support FTP site
5) Didn't work so I Uninstalled FLS-4 drivers (FLS-5Drv.exe) and installed the one from the FTP site v2.0908

THanks!!

Select 10k or 5.1k on the adaptor. The time out error is due to boot error.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried it on all 4 settings and it still gives me the "FIASCO file contains no Flash Descriptor" error. I made sure and unplugged the adapter from the Genie each time I changed the setting. I've been trying with a working N78 phone. One thing I notice is that when I have the adapter on 10k, the phone goes into test mode but for the 3 other settings, the phone goes into local mode. Should that matter? Should it be in a particular mode when flashing?
Should I try going to an older version of Phoenix? Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thx

Hi,

I think you should replace the whole data package, not just the bootloader.
Not sure if Alan has uploaded an old package to the support FTP.

The oldest one I see on the support FTP is 2008_4_7_32837
Did you replace your data package with this one or an older one?

I'm assuming your talking about enabling the checkbox in phoenix "Dead phone USB flashing"?
It's grayed out because I'm using the FBus connection. Also, phoenix can read the phone. I've tried doing dead phone USB flashing which the regular USB connection and using the USB cable that comes with phones directly to my PC but it didn't work with the dead N958G, dead N91 and dead N73 I have. That's the biggest reason why I got the genie, to bring back my dead phones

Go to file>manage connections>and move 'no connection' up to top then select apply!

Then go to open product, and select model type (rm-320), select desired product code and then flash!!!!!

So change the connection to 'no connection'. What about the physical connection? I still have the 8pin cable going into the 8to10 converter and that into the Genie. Is this still correct or should I connect it a different way?

Change it. Remove fbus cable, insert battery and use usb.

You may need to press pwr button on handset

I got a little farther using the Fbus cables and using an older version of Phoenix (20.009.34260). Now I get the error

Erasing Flash...
Error: Status Response returned a programming error
All operations completed
Product flashing failed.

The Phoenix_Userguide.pdf mentions this error but it says "Check*VPP*connection*and*make*sure*that*exterior* VPP*is*connected*if*you*are*using*7pin*wired*cable *with*external*9v*battery*connector."

But the FBus connector I have for the N95-8g doesn't have a 9v battery connector and neither do any of the 100+ cables that I got with my MTbox order. It's just a regular 8-pin fbus connector. Where can I get the fbus cables with 9v battery connectors?
Anyone have idea?

Try the service pack patch for this firmware.
