When Apple released iOS 4.0 they started to make use of the Gas Gauge chip in the battery board of the 3GS (the same applies in the iPhone 4 and 4S). There is this daemon/service called watchdog which monitors gasgauge including incorrect battery part number or copy battery, or even damaged connectors. This usually reports every 4-5 mins so once it detects a non conformity, it simply restarts the phone and keeps looping like that.

What you could simply try is download iRecovery, put your phone in recovery mode using tiny umbrella or any other method and connect you phone to the PC. (iRecovery is a command prompt application) then watch within that 5minutes timeframe if any gasgauge issues shows up.
All your help is great, At the minute I still have the FL7 jumped and I did a full restore 5.0.1 and to test the 3GS I put the stopwatch on to see how long it would run before switching off I kept checking and it reached 30 mins never did this before. I will be giving it back to the owner to test further over the next day or two to see if it is cured. I will post results in couple of days.

I dont have an idea why now its working because by defaults the 3GS fl7 is just solder pads. Anyways tell your customer to take photos, set full brightness, use gps and a lot of 3g also set the auto lock to never since this uses the iphone at full hence decreasing the battery immediately and hence we could see whether the iphone is capable to deplete the battery without problems

One fine day, when I was using my iPhone, it suddenly crashed and when i turned it on, it displayed no service, then i discovered, No IMEI, no ICCID and no wifi or bluetooth. I would like to know what exactly the problem is. My phone is a jailbroken one. Do you have any idea what the issue is? And is there any way to fix this. The phone otherwise works fine, I can take photos, use the compass and other features except making calls, accessing internet. Also the phone restarts every 2 minutes. It runs on iOS 5 baseband 06.15
Thanks and Regards.
