Sometimes I find google search of gsmhosting yields better results. here's a related post (I can't post links yet): search "how-remove-screen-lock-s6-edge-new-version-g925fxxu2coh8-1998005-post11327212" I'm in the same situation but more out of curiosity than necessity on my tmoibile s6 edge with android 5.1.1 (of6 firmware). Fingerprint screen lock enabled & also backup password but I want to remove fingerprint password and login to the S6 Edge without factory reset (I want to keep settings / data), I also don't want to trip Samsung's KNOX (**** bootloader control to void your hardware warranty). Lastly, I would like to flash custom recovery with Odin (not sure if I can do this without having root but I would rather keep the device stock and simply remove the fingerprint / password screen lock. So bottom line, you are confusing Samsung's Account Lock (FRP to avoid theft) with finger print lock. If Reactivation Lock is enabled you can't use Odin to flash custom recovery (to my VERY limited knowledge, unless maybe doing battery pull and risking softbrick?) So in short, search that other post I referenced and make sure the Samsung Reactivation lock on your phone is not enabled so you can flash and gain root if necessary (to delete system files through adb to remove fingerprint / password lock). It takes a bit of patience searching to get used to basic concepts; it's just time consuming but nothing too difficult with basic reading and comprehension skills. There are different kinds of locks: Samsung Account Lock (Reactivation Lock): You can check to see if this has been enabled by booting into recovery menu on phone by powering on while holding power + up volume + home buttons at the same time. Than there is Google Account Lock (search forums for OTG settings bypass). Then there is a Screen lock (fingerprint & backup password). Goodluck, we're both in the same boat! |
