What is the difference between Main Firmware and Custom Firmware


Hi to all,

I am new in these iPhone. I see in sitcky thread here iPhone firmware and Custom firmware of same version. What is the difference between these two? When need main and when need custom?

I'll be thankful if anyone clear me out.

the custom firmware means it has been modded, you will need this if you wish to unlock the iphone, this will need to be flashed into the h/set with itunes....plenty of info on this on the forum.

custom firmware allows you to play homebrew apps or copied games. custom is the way to go. you don't have the latest custom firmware, which can keep you from playing some of the latest games. i suggest upgrading to a newer custom firmware. google for pandora battery. this is the latest and greatest way of installing custom firmware. the easiest way to do this trick is to find a program called "pandora battery easy gui" and read up. it's well worth it.
