It still does depend on the issue itself. If it's just an error caused by user, for LG you can mostly repair it right now via USB or SD card. There are tools and ways for other brands as well, tho not always works. If it's related to eMMC itself, you may still be forced to do the whole process and either wipe it, upgrade firmware (if possible) and so on. Adding flashing (supported) Qualcomm based phones via USB when possible could just make things easier and less risky, plus, that's something a competition already have.
