iphone 7 wont boot past logo

so I have an iphone 7 that was smashed really badly.

I put a new screen on it and all seemed to be working. a month later he brought the phone back saying that it was taking a long time to boot up and that the screen was freezing.
My first thought was the screen had gone bad or he had dropped it again. So I swapped out the screen and the phone still acted the same. like 20 minutes to boot up.
while troubleshooting the issue i unhooked the front camera flex and that seemed to be better.. It would still take a few minutes to boot though. shortly after that the screen froze and it needed a reboot.
So i thought maybe a sofTware issue. I noticed that the phone needed an update so i installed the update through itunes. this seemed to work except it would not complete the file restoration. So I did a full factory restore. This seemed to finish without any issues until the final reboot. then it just hangs on the apple logo again. it seems to have gotten worse as the days go by. now it will not boot up at all.

any ideas what might be causing it?
