Dave : propably you have a bad soldered contacts of battery, or varistor is defective.
other: check fuse, is it on keyboard side down. Measure with multimeter for shorcircuit of charger connector. If there is a shortcircuit, termistor is defect, is it near fuse. If nothing helps, charging IC may be wrong. Is a small BGA near CCONT<br />T.
