MCU SW
MCU SW is the main software with all needed functions for proper operation of the phone. MCU SW from one type of phone (for eg. 5110) cannot be used on different types of phones (for eg. 6110). Changing MCU SW is useful only if you wish to upgrade current software with newer versions that might include bug fixes or new functions. Overwriting MCU SW with the same version can restore bad data in flash where MCU SW is stored.


PPM DATA
PPM Data are blocks of data that define different groups of users, such as language groups. Nokia made this format of data because of flash size limitations. Since there is lots of languages and fonts over the world, the one PPM file can be from 1 to approximately 20 languages. Changing languages is a main reason of changing PPM data. Overwriting PPM with the same version can restore bad data in flash where PPM is stored.
