First of all i suggest you do some more reading in this forums as the first part of your question has been answered many times already, but since i'm in a nice mood this morning here's how to check assuming you have the Widcomm stack installed : Right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select bluetooth configuration or advanced configuration depending on your version. There, click on the Diagnostics tab and it will tell you the details of your device including the firmware revision.

As far as support goes, simply go the the IBM site (now lenovo) and follow the instructions in order to get driver updated for your laptop. You'll have to enter the model number etc. The Widcomm stack that IBM provides usually includes a firmware update as well.
