I occoured the same problem for a long time, I think I changed the data cabel to solve this..... but don't know which one. I've got four data cabels. First the Syncstation - with this you should really solve all problems. Then an original siemens data cabel (from S45) only good for patching nut useable for unlocking or backup firmware (just tested with c45). Then two well cheap data cabel with 3 wires in it (really no electronic) I think they are called M-Bus cabel
- There's no flash patching possible, but unlocking and fubu... maybe it's this??
Last chance, try V_Klay as flasher - maybe it's a bit more stable as UniSiemens (I really use only UniSiemens for making Backups)

If you were able to make backup then you're able to reflash - imho
