I would get a more powerfull PSU to be honest and change the cards model.
The 5850 whatever cheap would give you heating problem as 3 in a case without watercooling wouldn't have enaugh space to cool down.
Go in the 1st stage with a single 5970 or 6990: the speed would be close the same and you would have as well good expansion capabilities in your system to add a seconday dual or single gpu card in crossfire
