Apple has promised an iOS 5 software update to fix battery life issues affecting some users, according to a statement given to AllThingsD.

"A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices," Apple said in a statement to AllThingsD. "We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks."

Earlier today Apple released a beta of iOS 5.0.1 to developers which may be a preliminary version of the software update which will address these problems.
