It doesnt matter how fast the processor is, but how fast the phone itself is.

I'd say that Iphone A5 is fastest

True !! My HTC Incredible S got a 1.2 dual core CPU and its faster than Sony Ericsson Arc S with a 1.4 dual core Qualcomm MSM8255T, You ask why ? BCZ NOT only the CPU is telling how fast the phone is, the RAM memory have a really big matter on it as well, ( same as PC ) the Arc S got only 512 MB RAM where my HTC got 768MB RAM,

Second that. The need for faster processor is only for Android phones as
they are Java mostly and are kind a slow. The iPhone is coded in proper C, so
is no need to for wastefully fast CPU's. Android phones will soon need 3Ghz
just to draw non lagging UI.

Almost same story in Desktop world - you can run Linux on very simple
hardware, but for Windows 7 you need i7 and 8Gb + of RAM and is still
slow.

It depends on how the resources are used. Old desktop with 286 and the coprocessor 287 worked fine under dos/win3.1
