9210 bad keypad

My 9210 unfortunately fell down on the floor. Now the phone's keypad partly isn't working (some keys don't work, i.e. "*" and "#"). Also the internal display's light sometimes doesn't start when I open the cover, and the internal keypad has some disfunctions, too (i.e. keys "b" and "<shift>") don't work.

When I knock on the battery side of the phone it recovers for some minutes by not having any of the errors mentioned above, but after few minutes (or some operations on the phone/PDA) it gets bad again.

I strongly suppose a bad contact in one of the phone's connectors. Does anyone have expirience it repairing that failures or at least has a "repair hints" PDF-file from Nokia etc. for my phone ?

Help would be very appreciated !

Thanks in advance.

I also have the same problem. Were you able to receive any hints on how to open the front part of the 9210i? Thanks.

Hi,

how to disassemble 9210:

http://www.nc9210.de/9210/communic/open.htm

(text in German, but you will understand it - in case of emergency use Google Translation ...).

Meanwhile I am absolutely sure it's either the flex cable connecting the keypad to the main PCB or the connector on the PCB itself. I wanted Nokia to repair my phone, but those f**king bastards at the NSC wanted me to pay for a set of TWO new displays (outside and inside) and the flex-cable (although the displays are 100% OK). Alternatively I was offered a used 9210 as replacement for my one - for a "discount price" of EUR 400,- ...

As you might imagine I am very disappointed about Nokia and it's "service" - this is definitely NOT what I want to get when buying a phone for EUR 1000+. They changed from an absolute mobile expert to a company producing ultra low cost rubbish and hunting for quick money.

Just my opinion, no need for extensive discussions.

*puke* - sorry m8, u r talking bull !!

why are they !f**king bastards* ??

if you are not able to have an eye on your "1000€" phone and they are the dumb a.s.s.e.s ??
you should think about it

if you are not able to fix it by yourself - get a new phone an take care of it (maybe a crappy 50€ siemens phone will make the job)

@ moguth

It's just my opinion.

They wanted me to pay EUR 400,- for changing displays which are OK.

Maybe you think this is how the market leader should treat the customers, then that's your opinion - everyone is permitted to have his own.

Regards,
NSM-1.

P.S.:
It would be more helpful to post constructive hints, there's no need to be of*****ng.

iīm not of*****ng
itīs very simple - you dropped your phone - thats all
thats not the problem of nokia - why should they give anybody anything 4free ??
high end phones have high end prices - itīs always the same
(for example: 8850 keypad - up to 75 € !! - itīs only a stupid piece af plastic and a battery or better - 8910 the plastic around the bottom connector - i think the part costs around 10 or 15 ct, but you cant repair it - you must buy the complete slide - price is around 140 to 170 euro(depending on the phones colour) - did you get it?
if you must have a bigger phone - pay the bigger prices (or do you think that a bmw m3 engine must have the same price as a vw lupo engine ?)

the repair hints are pretty useless in your case - you need the full manual, i think that your phone does not have any hardware error - itīs only the flex connection
the pda light problem comes mostly from defective starters/lamps
the light part is not easy to get, the price is around 40 to 50 euro
(or take it from a defective pda screen)
but i think it also only a contact problem

400 € only for the displays is bull
but the repaircosts are not easy to calculate - think about it
if they would say - no problem - costs around 50 € - and after they repaired it (and found a few errors more) - you have to pay 200, 300 or even 400 - you wold be pi**ed - right ??

oh no, i dont admire them, i think that the 9xxx series is a great tool - perfect to write a sms/fax/email, play a*******s or bounce
but only if u are able to handle it, and sometimes repair it

itīs not a poser phone like the 8910i
