Hallo!<br />One time I've heard that it is possible to transform 8210 into 8850 by buyeing 8850 covers and putting 8210 board into it.<br />Is it possible or not?<br />If yes what changes do I have to make?<br />Thanx in advance

yes, there is an un-original cover...a bit bigger os the phone cannot be anymore in the desktop stand..<br />also 8850 has blue led's, two (not 3) on each side, two up.....+#0000# gives NSM3 instead of NSM2 etc...Menu icons are different..

<br />it's impossible to transofrm...also IMEI sticker cannot be printed..

Yes you can transform 8210 to 8850 PHYSICALLY... only how it looks but not the FUNCTIONALITY.

impossible......better buy a 8850 but its too expensive.....

what they meant wasb that you can just tranforn the looks. Just the "casing" is replaced... but a little bulkier <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> These 8850 "convertion" casing are available at maybe around $10

i have tried transforming my 8210 to 8850.. i have 2 conversion cases...

the only problem with these cases is that they are plastic, and a bit thicker.. and after conversion, they don't have that active slide like the original(does original have it?). and after conversion, there is no microphone on the slide, so it may not be as loud as before because the slide is covering the mic. and the keypad is not so good.. it makes clicking sounds when pressed the the '*' and '#' buttons are hard to press because the slide is in the way.. but i guess that may be different on different cases.. also, problems that i have had with my cases is that the inside has no metallic lining, like the original 8210 case, just plastic, so there is interference which the other party can hear.. i guess spraying it with a metallic paint would probably solve the problem but again, that probably depends on the the quality of the case you buy. also with the cases i have one type of 8210 cable won't fit in it (the one with the battery sitting perpendicular to the base), well it fits, but there are no clips to hold it in, so you have to hold it in by hand.

overall, my opinion of the plastic conversion cases sux! <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> i've seen metallic ones being sold on the net and they're around $50usd, and i think that's hardly worth it. after conversion they look pretty much exactly like an original 8850, unless the other person knows what an actual size of an original 8850 is like, the color of the leds and they know that it's nsm-2 they won't be able to tell the difference.. i've had a quite a few friends who actually thought i bought a new phone <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

it is not possible to insert 8850 housing on 8210 pcb,as the pcb has different antenna structure.it by replacing 8210 cover with a generic imitation cover and super white leds,it will still look like a 8210.YOU ARE BETTER TO CONVERT IT INTO 8250.<br />STAND A BETTER CHANCE AS A *******.

koax, no prob.<br />here is the place where i saw the metal conversion kit, they have since gone down in price to $43usd <a href="http://www.gsmsquare.com/" target="_blank">http://www.gsmsquare.com/</a>

the 8210-&gt;8850 kit is at <a href="http://www.gsmsquare.com/8850kit.htm" target="_blank">http://www.gsmsquare.com/8850kit.htm</a>

they also have the original 8850 casing for sale for $99usd.. too bad the 8210 doesn't fit in it...<br /><a href="http://www.gsmsquare.com/original8850.htm" target="_blank">http://www.gsmsquare.com/original8850.htm</a>

and also.. one thing i forgot to mention.. with the cheaper conversion cases i have, the infra-red is convered by a piece of thin opaque black plastic which can be removed, and needs to be removed before you can use the infra-red. and the volume switch is a pain in the arse to put in.. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

and i had a problem with mine where it wouldn't read the sim card. the sim card wasn't touching the reader properly, i had to place a piece of paper between the sim and the frame to put pressure on it so it would make good contact with the reader...

so basically, converting to 8850 using a cheap case isn't worth the trouble.. if you want to convert, you should make sure you get a quality case <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

u can get the metallic ones from <a href="http://www.mobiletech.cjb.net" target="_blank">here</a> at abt 13US$ per pcs.

They have a minimum qty and they have the latest gold versions as well, i've ordered the titanium ones before and they are the same thing sold at gsmsquare.

yeah, conversion to 8250 would be alot easier.. if you've already changed the LEDs then all you need to do is buy a conversion cover. The 8250 will fit on the 8210 but you won't be able to press the keys properly.. the 8250 has bigger buttons on the metal plate so you have to get a conversion cover for it.. maybe you can buy the original 8250 covers and change the keypad? i'm not sure, i haven't tried it.

I've got 2 8250 conversion covers and the keypad is hard plastic as opposed to the original hard jelly/soft plastic keypads which i really hate <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

<br />lifeline:<br />thanks for the link, but the minimum order there is $3000US or 100pcs for the covers and orders &lt;$1000 are not acceptable. i'm really don't need 100x8850 covers. maybe someone can buy it and sell it seperately? <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
