my cell number appearing on the recipient's phone and instead somebody else's number? I want to play a joke on some friends. Thanks.

I think your originating number is added by the phoneco.

2 things U can do.

1. play a joke on 2 'friends'
borrow 1 guys phone and send a death-threat to guy number2

2. Use an SMS-Gateway on the NET.
