Post Still having probs with 74 series logic gates ??

hello all .. remember me !!

well im not sure about ya'all... but im still having problems with dejan ..

getting blank flash.outs .. (FF 00 FF 00 FF 00) but getting the graph etc etc ...

i am using an AMD (K6-II 450) which i have found out is bad for this. And some past posts suppported this because of the socket 7 motherboard... on board lpt bios not sopprting it (sound like i know what im talking about then did'nt it)

well the things i have found out, from romuors and browsing forums .. is that the 74 series chip Might b the problem ..
and that another chip is better ..
and again i am pointed to another series of logic chips ... the 4000 series
so i have had a look in maplin etc ..
and pinned down a quick list of suitable chips ..
4011B ,2 input nand gates (bit like 74hc132)
4049B ,6 NOT gates (buffered)
40106 ,6 NOT gates / hex schemitt trigger (like the origanal 74hc14)

so any opinions would b appreciated ..
and is a buffered logic chip a better choice??

im gonna be trying them soon anyway (esp. if i dont get a reply!)
well reagrds to all ... Mick ...

well, ive heard this also!

in fact, i already bought this chip. my problem is the pinouts, voltage, etc.. i cant find the specs. im still researching for it.

i'll experiment again with the schemes if im ready.

im sure others here in our forum used this chip. just let us know about it.

(this is so because i still cant make my laptop work, even i have the "modified flasher sw").

regards,
Stryker

hello stryker !!! ..

what do ya mean by a "modified flasher sw" ??
do u have a modified dejan program ???

if u want the data sheet for it, then maplin is ya best bet .. (if not email me)

i will be ordering some in the near future to try, but would love some other people's experencie and opinions
and also would like to know a bit more about the, buffered chip option ?.. is it better ?

cheers Mick ! ..

well its nice to get a good response to this ...
and thankyou koloksky it would seem that i have this problem then !! .. (but i have no other cpu chip to try ...grr)

and to the diagram sp people can try the 4000 series chip .. the one that is a better match is the 40106, which has the exact pinouts as the 74hc14 !! so just swop it over!
its is descibes as a 'hex schmitt trigger'
and the 4011b and 4049b are just normal buffered NAND/Not gates

love to now whats the diference between the normal gates, and a hex schmitt trigger ?

if u do need to now the schemes again i will make them and post them here for people to try .. (i will just change an existing one!)

well thanks again Mick ..

(oh and for datasheets, maplin does'nt seem to list the 40106 specificly. BUT RS do .. but theres loads of different types and makes of 40106?)
