Firmware updates at Nokia Official Service Centres - GSM-Forum

Do Nokia Official Service Centres charge for updating the firmware of a phone (3120) that is under warranty and if I show the receipt?

Will this flashing "unlock" the phone or reset the "restriction code" counter?

Does there have to be a fault with the phone for them to flash it?

I have V5.91 at present and I believe V6 has recently come out.

Normally Nokia Authorized Serv Center have list with minimum accepted firmware for each phone model.
This mean that each phone must have inisde at least that firmware, if phone has older sw will be upgraded to latest sw free of charge but if your phone has newer sw version than minimum requested; Nokia will not pay the Service Center for sw upgrade operation and you will be charged even if your phone is in warranty.

Would the Re-Flashing actually "unlock" the phone or would it , at least, reset the SP Lock restriction code counter so that I could try again at using the unlock codes - I now think I have the correct ones after I discovered I needed a non-standard "Box serial" for the code calculator.

they wont unlock it, and i doubt your couter will be reset.

but they will flash for free if under 12month old (they dont usually need receipt).
but if ur phone has software above that in the matrix already they dont need to flash. so just say it keeps freezing after 30 mins (no one will test phone for 30mins to check it, they just flash it

)
