sory geoff, i have seen a few phones with short on terminals. i did not revive one phone.

it is very hard to fault find this as all ground and positive points in the phone is showing continuity so you cannot find the problem...

i read in an old post when i searched for this problem, and see the big capacitors near contact might be the problem.

for me that did not solve, but for you it might

like i said:

when i searched (so if unsure you sould have searched)
also i said the big one (there is only one big capacitor in 6230, only two big capacitors in other phone)
finally i say, near the contacts.

it is to the right of the battery contacts, it is big and yellow.

Use power suplay, 3.7V (+ with Vbat & - with GND)
Component dammaged will be very hot
(But becareful dont use hight signals).

Good luck.

Yes but the guy said that he removes every part from the board and left it clear !.
The outher common causes are the Varistors ,diods , and any capacetiv load device .
The continous heatening of those devices carbonates the board under them leading to loss of insulation between tracks of the board and hot gun maxemises the problem
That happends in some seimens phones I replaced the PA then , phone dead during charging.
