Nokia 6600 - No Screen Light, camera not working

Hi, have a nokia 6600, currently when switched on and the camera is selected it says "hardware failure"

I believe this is due to slight liquid damage to the phone, this has also stopped the LCD from lighting up. The LCD works fine, not missing bits or anything, just no backlight.

The question i am asking is, can this be repaired, or would i need another screen and camera ??

The mainboard of the phone has been gone over with on the worst parts with a fibre glass pencil to eliminate any short circuit.

Should i put this in the ultrasonic tank to clean it properly ??

Any help would most appreciated

Regards

NaaN

Well , actually the water dammadged PCBs is hazardly diagnosed
and terated .
Beside U'r phone is still new ( I still have no schematics ), but I
think that the problem may be in the screen board itself , if U can
check with other LCD,also cleaning the board is vital.

hi, thanks for the reply, i have checked the small connector ribbon with 4 conenctions that comes off the side of the LCD im assuming that is for the LCD bacjklight.

Upon close inspection i realised that one of the conenctions has corroded away due to the oxidisation, i am in the process of fixin the track using conductive silver paint. So hopefully i will be able to get the backlight fixed (touch wood!!)

Only problem left is the camera, i am highly doubtful that it can be opened and cleaned as it seems like a sealed unit. If anyone can tell me otherwise i would be mose appreciative

Regards

@Majestic Pirate.

The coil U mensioned is a new hardware feature comes with the
" colored screens ".
It is the - matching up voltage source - to give 18 Volt or near to
the colored screens ( Up Dc to Dc converter ).

It may be tough to get a camera for the phone, except maybe from an authorized nokia repair centre. And u can be sure it won't come cheap. If u r lucky it may just be corroded tracks of some other components not workin around the camera.
