Test jig is a hardware ..., u put the nokia board on it ( without casing) so that u can power on the phone ....and do any test u want ....

Active probe : is a probe used with frequency counter to check the frequency on a part in mobile phones ..( to see if there is such a signal or not ... only high frequency) low frequency do not need active probe .....u can use normal probe ...,

I am not sure for chinese jigs...But for test equipment and BGA rework try following...

Rohde&Schwarz - gsm testers, freq. counters, signal generators...
www.rohde-schwarz.com

Martin Gmbh - BGA/CSP rework machines, dispensers, etc
www.martin-smt.de

HP/Agilent - multimeters, oscilloscopes, counters, power supply units, ...
www.agilent.com

Willtek - gsm testers, counters, generators, spectrum analysers...

Hiya

For BGA rework i use Martin 3000 bga/csp rework/dispenser with auto profiler...

Rest of equipment:

Rohde&Schwarz CTS55 digital radio tester
Rohde&Schwarz CTM 53 programable signal generator
Tektronix THX72 60 MHz oscilloscope/digital multimeter
Philips PM 8255 programable power supply
Willtek 9101 spectrum analyser 4GHz

Of course You have to invest in good reliable equipment, it is very expensive, but it paying itself off, not only by repairing mobile phones...

Best regards

Vule

Hi All,
Can you tell me between
Rohde & Schwarz CMD 55 Comm Tester/CMD55/GSM and
HP 8922M/S GSM Mobile Station Test Set.
Which one is better and reliable for testing GSM Mobile for 900/1800/1900 MHZ?

What is the good price to buy used equipment or new equipment?

Thank you for advance...

Joe

A GSm tester is a integrated collection of instruments in one box for the specific purpose of testing mobile phones. A GSm tester usually has the following

- Signal generator for calibrating & testing RX
- Power meter for testing calibrating TX
- Spectrum analsyer for examining signal
- Base station emulator
- BER & phase checker
- Digital scope
- Audio analyser

They are very expensive as vule said, but well worth it. It will pay itself off as you fix RF problems quickly and easily. Both HP and R & S will do the job you require them to.

Agilent / HP 8922 is old and has been replaced by newer model.
2nd hand they sell around $3000 - $5000 depending on options.

P.S why do you need 1900mhz? As far as i know that network is only in USA.
