Motorola V195 unlock status for USA T-Mobile Pay-as-you-go Customers

Can someone enlighten me on the current Motorola V195 unlock status?

I bought this GSM phone in early June from a USA T-Mobile store so that I could use it on my summer trip in Europe.
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/pro...alObjectId=143

Unfortunately, T-Mobile says they won't unlock the phone for three months for pay-as-you-go customers.

I searched this web site for the Motorola V195 (it's not even in the list for this forum so please tell me where to go if this is the wrong forum) and found something called "testpoint" was needed.

Can you enlighten me (I'm not a techie but I can google) on what I would do to get my T-Mobile Motorola V195 cell phone unlocked this week?

Thanks,
Donna Knolls

After calling T-Mobile, I then tried this web site I found by googling; but the web site says the Motorola V195 cell phone isn't out yet (which is, of course, not even close to being true as I bought the phone the first week of June from a USA T-Mobile store).

So, these guys are out of the loop:
http://www.cell-unlock.com/motorola-v195-unlock.htm

Their support folks said the phone has to be disassembled for "testpoint" which I'm not sure is true (since even the web site isn't correct).

If someone here could clarify the situation for the unlock'ability of the T-Mobile USA Motorola V195, I'd be appreciative.

Continuing on my google search, I found this site:
http://www.instant-unlock.co.uk/acat...95_Unlock.html

Which had nothing on their web page but the landing page for the Motorola V195, which led me to believe they would unlock it; but after contacting them at [email protected], they reported back that they didn't think *anyone* could unlock this phone ever as Motorola apparently does something different with all their new cell phones.

If a cell phone expert could clarify this information for me, I'd feel much better.

I managed to talk to a human at http://www.unlocktotalk.com by calling:
800-891-0522

The guy who answered said he never heard of the Motorola V195 so I referred him to the many reviews on it and to the T-Mobile press release:
http://www.mobiledia.com/news/47627.html

The net was that he said he couldn't help me unlock the Motorola V195.

Interestingly, this web site uses the same phone number:
http://www.thedssguy.com
So I didn't bother to call again for fear I'd get the same answer.

Can you make any sense of the status of the Motorola V195 unlock?

Moving right along, I finally found someone who could unlock a Motorola V195:
http://www.unlockitnow.com/Motorola/V195.php
But, digging deeper with [email protected], they gave me a very curt reply which merely said:

Motorola V195 unlocking is only available for Vodafone UK, Orange France, SFR and Bouygues phones.

Can someone clarify what's so different about a T-Mobile Motorola V195 cell phone?

I checked out the Dr. Moto web site, which looked promising:
http://www.drmoto.net
But they don't even have the Motorola V195 in their home page pulldown!

Sending an email message via their "Contact Us" link:
http://www.drmoto.net/contact.php?s=10
Only resulted in an automated response saying they were "checking into it".

Why is it so hard to unlock this T-Mobile Motorola V195 cell phone?

This web site says it will be the first one ever to unlock this phone:
http://www.phoneblitz.com/phones/V195.htm

Their site specifically says (and I quote):
"Our website will be the first to offer unlocking software for the Motorola V195"

In addition, they say at that web site:
"
Unfortunately, unlocking software for the new Motorola V195 is not yet available. Our programmers are currently working on software for this model, and we expect to be able to unlock this phone within the next month."

I asked [email protected] to ask what "month" is next month; but I haven't received a response back yet.

Do you know of *any* business that can unlock the Motorola V195 yet?

These guys "say" they unlock *any* phone for $4.95 USD:
http://www.cellunlocks.com
But I'm suspicious given what I found so far above.

I did send a request to [email protected] asking for confirmation that they unlock the T-Mobile Motorola V195; so far I haven't heard back from them.

Do you think it's true these guys can unlock the T-Mobile Motorola V195?

Like the previous fellows, these guys "say" they unlock *any* Motorola cell phone:
http://www.unlock-motorola.com
But now I'm leery enough to ask before pulling out my money.

All I need is confirmation from *somebody* that they can unlock the Tmobile Motorola V195 cellphone. At the moment, I'm waiting for confirmation from [email protected] that they indeed do unlock this Motorola V195 cellphone.

Do you know of anyone who can confirm they can unlock the Motorola V195?

Of all the leads I found by googling, this one is the most promising.

This site at least *says* they can unlock the Motorola V195 cell phone for $25 USD:
http://www.unlockstore.com/motorola-V195-unlock.htm

However, by now, as you can imagine, I'm a bit suspicious of any unlock page (because the information I have so far is sketchy at best); so I sent an email just yesterday to [email protected] to ask them to confirm that they truly can unlock the T-Mobile Motorola V195 cell phone.

DON'T TRUST THESE GUYS.

Please take a moment to read my blog post about what happened when I attempted to use thier service, it will only take a few minutes. I do not have Google adsense or anything like that on my blog, I just want to make sure that no one else gets taken by these guys like I did.

Smile T-Mobile V195 Unlock

The v195 is new in the market, I think that you need to contact any "UNLOCK SERVICE STORE" in your city to unlock this new phone.

I have unlocked one v195 two days ago by myself...O.K. I have the tools to unlock this phone and many others models...

This phone have the same procesor that the Motorola L6 have and need to use a testpoint to unlock.

You can find more info in this forum, please do a search and you can fin information about testpoint in the v195 and how to unlock using the Smarmoto/Smartclip software.
The problem is that you need to find a persson that have the tools to do the unlock.
I don't know... mybe you can find a guy in your city.

Unlockstore.com has refunded me my money. So, as agreed, I have removed my original blog post.

Thank you to unlockstore.com for keeping your word.
