where should i put the unlock code in a v3xx?

hi there i got the v3xx unlock code and im ready to insert it in order to unlock the phone but if i turn the phone on with a rejected sim inside it just says "contact operator" instead of asking me for the code,i read that by keeping him rest for a few hours with the sim inside would solve the problem but after some hour it still says to contact the operator,what could i do to insert the unlock code and solve this problem?

insert non accepted sim card in it it will say contact operator leave phone on for few hours like 24 hrs it will ask codes then enter codes
