C201, unlock software does not detect power on - GSM-Forum

I have two C201 and both will not let any unlock software detect a power on.
Tried all the relevant software on USR and multicom.
Use a self made comport to 2.5mm cable.
Connected an oscilloscope and have the TX signal pulsing a little over 3Vss but the RX signal stays just static at around +1.5V after power up.
From my humble knowledge a PC needs about 3V to detect anything on RX.

Any ideas, plz

just wondering if anybody could plug the cable in their c201(200 or 190) and measure the DC voltage on the other side with a multimeter on pin 2 and pin 5?
I get 1.9V and it breaks down to 1.5V across a 10k resistor in the pin holes.

If I knew it was a hardware fault I could stop fighting windmills at least.
