Help with 8120 phone after Unlocking.. - GSM-Forum

Hi,

I brought a LG8120 off Ebay, which the person told me had been mistakenly locked by one of her kids playing with the phone..

If I place a NEW 3 Sim card in the phone, I get no service, and can only make EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY..

However,

On Unlocking the phone (using BabeSoftware) , and inserting the SIM card from my Siemens MC60 on Vodafone into the LG8120, I get a Network "VODAFONE UK", but cannot make calls out on it - although I can do a *#100# to get my own number and I can get my balance out of it..

I'm presuming, IF the phone was reported STOLEN, it wouldn't work even with my Vodafone SIM card in it.

Has the phone been Locked and I need a PUK code from 3??

Any ideas???

Is that Barred as in reported stolen....?

Or Barred as in I just need 3 to give me the PUK code to unlock it??

I can recieve SMS's on it, but can't call out, or SEND SMS's.....

Sorry to sound like a newbie - just not too sure......

vodafone will always show signal in a barred phone. You have described perfectly all the signs of a barred handset - you can always text but cant make calls in/out

try an o2 or orange sim in. they wont come up with any service to double check
