How to Format MMC in N6680 - GSM-Forum

Hey guys

Got a question for you. How can I format my MMC card of my nokia 6680? I tried going to tools folder and selecting memory but it says mmc in use. How else can I format my MMC? Plz help. Very urgent

ok to format it go in a computer with a card reader (and your card, of course) format it, plug it back in, and see if it works. if you see thats dammaged, you can then go to tools and memmory card and format it from there.

oh no

do i have to find a PC with a card reader??

Is there any way I can do it thru the phone? Cuz the phone already has a format option. Funny thing I can't use it tho. How can I stop the phone from reading the MMC when I reboot? Then maybe I can format the MMC. Plz help guys. If nothing works only option is to take my mobile and the MMC to the dealer so he can format it for me.

well it happened to me that i couldnt format it so i formated from the pc
looks that the filesystem is different, and it said that the card was dammaged, but the pc read it allright, so I formated it from the cell phone and now it works fine.
there's another way though
uninstall all the apps that are in the mmc and stop using any files from it (ringtones, backgrounds, etc) and then go back to tools - memory card - format it!

ok mate I will try that then. Maybe it won't format cuz all the games and stuff I have there are listing on the phone. Will give that a try. Thnx.

Hi I tried uninstalling all the apps on my MMC and formatting it but still it says card in use. Seems there are some messages and some app running on it. But I have nothing else on the card to uninstall. The only 2 apps running are Sender app and Anti virus which are both on phone memory. Also aren't the messages saved on the phone? They are important contacts with numbers.

I guess only option now is to use the MMC card reader connected to a PC and format it.

try getting the card out of the phone, set a shortcut or arrow from joystick as memory card app from the tools folder, once thats set put your card in and quickly start the memory card tool by your pre-set key binding and format. This colud do it, as the memory is not in use, freshly inserted. Tell me if It works.
