Member: 28196 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Software recomendation I own an 8310 and I would like to be able to upgrade its firmware. I have the 5.80 revision and I would to upgrade to the latest one. It's for personal use and I don't mind if it doesn't work for other phones, so I can't afford a really expensive solution. Which is the best software+cable for doing this? How much does it cost? Thank you |

Search for one in your country, take contact with them via phone also. Get the appropriate cabel with it, and tha FIA file. REad this forum. Good luck! Note: it cost should not be more than 60-80 USD. (if you like elecronics, you can build one from 20 USD) |

Member: 28196 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hi, thanks masterID. I've already searched this forum, I found the cheap flasher but with the latest FIA files I will be able to upgrade my version (already 5.80 which is the version of the modified FIAs) to 6.20 for example? Why they had to modify the FIA files for allowing upgrading to 5.80? The problems of cheap flasher with other phones with bluetooth are quite significant to me, it's possible to have problems whith the future versions of the firmware? As long as I understand what are FIAs files are the ones wich says where update the firmware, and the modified FIAs are the original ones with a "substraction" that describes where they MUST NOT update the firmware. I'm ok? If I need, I would be able to flash a virgin eeprom to the phone and repair the IMEI? Before starting flashing I want to know if I broke the phone I will be able to recover it or not! Thank you very much PD: I like electronics but I don't trust enough myselft for testing with my everyday phone |

Member: 3430 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | see my dct4 flasher tutorial : http://www.unlockme.co.uk/dct4flashing.html from what i understand, it is not the fia files / flash loaders which are modified, it is the flash file it self. The flash is modified in such a way that it will not overwrite the existing java applilcations. You only require different loaders as the newer phones use different types of flash chips which in turn require different flash loaders. The cheap dct4 flasher can flash dead phones ok, so even if you get a bad connection half way through flashing, you can start the process again. Unlike dct3 flashing you do not have to worry about running into the eeprom area, you do not enter any start adresses yourself. In that sense dct4 flashing is safer than dct3 flashing. There is no such thing as virgin eeproms for dct4 phone. regards Dan |

Member: 28196 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hi, Nice web dluik ! Ok, lets see if I have understand this finally. The FIAs files are the loaders, and the FIA update was for a new hardware revision. It is ok? This means, that if I have an old 8310 I wouldn't have to worry about FIA files or yes? If the firmwares are modified I will have to look for the modified firmwares for the cheap flasher. I can't download a MCU+PPM collection from the net and flash it. How can I determine if the MCU+PPM files are ok for the cheap flaser? And finally, if in DCT4 we haven't have to worry about EEPROM zone why some people get the IMEI "?????????" and they have to repair the IMEI. Regards |
