THIS is what vodafone said to me

Dear Stuart,

Thank you for your recent enquiry

We believe you wish to use your phone abroad or with another SIM, therefore you
will require a Network Unlock Code from us.

In order for us to issue a Network Unlock Code, please see the requirements
below:-

1) You will be required to top up your mobile number with #19.99 of calling
credit*. If you handset is over 12 months old there will be no charge.

2) IMEI Number (15 digits) - this is clearly noted on the reverse of the phone.
It can also be obtained by keying *#06#

3) Make/Model of mobile phone

4) Name and Address, including an alternative contact number. We can also send
codes and instructions by email. If you would prefer this, please ensure you
include your email address.

For UK usage:- If you wish to use an Orange, Virgin or One2One SIM, the phone
needs to be dual band.

For overseas usage:- We recommend you check with your new network to ensure
their SIM cards are compatible with equipment purchased in the UK.

Typically Network Unlock Codes are issued within 72 hours.

I hope the above clarifies our position, if you should have any further queries
or need assistance in the meantime, please contact us on our Helpline on 191 or
alternatively 08700 776655 from a fixed line telephone. (charged at your network
providers National rate).

If you are currently outside of the United Kingdom, we can be contacted on
+448700776655 (International call charges will apply).

* If you are not able to top up your account by calling us from outside of the
UK, you can send a Cheque or International money order for the amount of #19.99
Sterling, made payable to VODAFONE LIMITED and sent to the following address:-

FAO: Carole Edwards
Pay as You Talk Department
Vodafone House
The Connection
Newbury
Berkshire
RG14 2FN

I hope this information is beneficial to you.

Regards
Diane

it's not the handset that needs 2 be over 1 years old it's the phone number, so get a vodafone sim cad thats over 1 year old put it in your phone and ring up, try it it should work, they know how old your number is but not your phone, i think i've come across this before, but give it a shot and see what happens

listen no problem, i'm glad it worked and if you idiots are going 2 try and push up your posts by arguing about who can spell better well then i think the topic should be closed, and by the way your
ignorance is personified by the exuberance of your verbosity, language usage and spelling i win on!!!!!!!!! jk. but leave this kind of mindless drivil out.

I suggest that you use punctuation so that what you're saying can be understood. Ive been reading these forums for a few weeks now [ concerning the gx10i ] and gin522 is the ONLY user who has given me any useful information out af everyone!!
