a300 - is it stolen? - GSM-Forum

hi, i bought a a300 last week on ebay, my virgin sim card is accepted but the phone will not allow me to text or phone out, also i can not receive calls or texts, i have tried putting another virgin sim card in with the same results.
i've just been reading the archives and it seems to me that its not a problem with the sim but that its proberly blocked, does this seem correct to you, and if so is the only reason it would be blocked be because it s a stolen phone?
if this is the case it seems i could try to get the imei changed, although i know this is illegal and anyway i'm not prepared to start buying cables etc for one phone.
so this leaves me with a dud phone that i might as well sling in the bin, can someone tell me if i've interpreted the situation correctly?

wow 159 views and no replies, is this a record? Is everyone scared of sticking themselves in the poo? you will be pleased to learn that i emailed the seller on ebay and he agreed to refund my money, he said he bought it in Hungary and was unaware of any problems at the time
