Convert SAGEM myV-55 to myX5-2 {latest firmware from sagem ver: 3.09} - GSM-Forum

Finally, I have been able to convert SAGEM myV-55 to myX5-2 using Sagem Firmware update ver: 3.09.
Thanks to "TheBerzerker", "forum.gsmhosting.com", and "www.gforums.de/sagem/forum/"

The procedure below shows how to convert your Sagem myV-55 into the myX5-2 to remove that Vodafone branding crap & receive a few extra nice features!

What you will need:

1. (optional) My Pictures And Sounds (Ver: 8.01)

2. Sagem Doctor (or any tool you find to edit EEPROM fields in a sagem phone, in this little tut I use sagem doctor)

3. My Sagem Update 3.09

4. A Cable, I am using a NON-Official Sagem cable and it works good.

NOTE: You cannot use IRDA for updating the firmware. You must use a cable.

Step1:
When you update your phone you will loose everything on the phone! EVERYTHING!!!
Use Sagem MPAS 8.01 to backup your pictures, animations and sounds. This is all MPAS can backup. To backup phone memory and eeprom flash use Telmem Plus. You must manually record phone numbers stored in phone book, sms in phone memory (sim memory is not affected), wap settings, mms settings, calendar notes, todo notes, java games & appz etc...

DON'T SAY THAT I DIDN'T TELL YOU ABOUT THIS!!!!

Step2:
We must change a field in eeprom so MSU 3.09 thinks your phone is a myx5-2 otherwise it wont flash the firmware on myV-55. Try and see for yourself!!!

A. Change the serial speed on your phone to 9600. This option is available in Menu/Settings/Connectivity/Serial Speed.

B. Open Sagem Doctor, press number that is corresponding to your port number.
C. Change the com baud rate to 9600 by pressing B a few times.
D. Now select 5. This is to change a field value.
E. Enter field 997 and hit enter.

Now follow the steps to edit field 997 like before, you should see field 997 has something like:

XX XX XX XX XX XX 25 14 90 03 60 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00

Thoes values I have marked XX are not important and I think they are different for every phone anyway.

We need to change the bytes 25 14 90 03 60 to 25 14 81 32 60

So press the right arrow until we are at byte 25, now type 2514813260 and Press the Enter key. Press Y key to confirm update.
It will asks you do you want to update another field, Press N. Press Esc to close Sagem Doctor.

Now turn off your phone and turn it back on!

Step3:
On your phone go to Menu/Settings/Connectivity/Serial Speed and put it back to Automatic.

Now double-click on MSU3-09.exe, follow instructions and press Next.

It will detect your cable's best speed and use that baud rate. Now it start to erase your current flash (don't be nervous :insane

, then it will write new flash to the phone!

It says it will take ~20 minutes, and you know what? it does!
So make yourself a cup or tea or something and DON'T touch your phone.

After it is done, your phone automatically turns on.. and look..no Vodafone startup! but the SAGEM startup screen instead.

You will have to setup your phone again like when you first got it, but this time you are asked for a color scheme.

Although there is only 3, its better than only RED!:rotate:

Now there is some new things in this firmware. I haven't seen them all because I am writing this.. The left and right soft key, press them, now you can press up or down for different functions. Also you can configure shortcuts for them in the settings.

Menu: There is no logo on screen for these buttons (vodafone live crap eh?) and you see full wallpaper when key lock is on.

All the menu's are more colorful and each option/function etc.. having its own icon with backgrounds.

Thats it, your myV-55 is now a myx5-2!

I have to make out a will but I have a problem: I have no simcard sfr ( vodafone ) thus I cannot regler the bauds in 9600 on the gsm v55.
Dotorgsm works in 19200 with the gsm; 9600 steps of reponses. Other speeds no answers.

In 19200 I can read the field 997 but I cannot write it: " timeout... "

Has you he a solution There to change the fields 997 in 19200?
Or to change on the gsm 9600 without simcard?

I have to try 9600 with a simcard sfr.. Gsm power on with sim.
conect at 9600bauds on gsm (speed/connectivity...)
Reading of the fields 997 but not ecriture of the fields at 9600 bauds.

I have a cable to modify with tx rx gnd on a max 232 to connect on the com of the pc
What cable of sagem use you?
