Is my U600 faulty or just a problem of firmware?

I just bought a new U600 with O2 UK and everything looked great. However, when I view a photo I take with the camera (or any picture I transfer to the phone from my computer), it looks much brighter than usual and has a lot of noise. But if I transfer the image to my computer, it has no problem at all. There is no problem neither, when I switch to the camera mode. But once I press the button and capture a picture, the resultant photo appears much brighter than it was on the screen. Below is the actual picture taken:

And this is what it appears on the mobile:

The menu and all the other stuff on the screen look normal (not brighter than usual) so I don't think it is a problem of the screen. Does anyone have any idea why it is like this? Would flashing it with the most up-to-date firmware solve the problem?

Thanks in advance!
