Samsung E700 Limited Service??

I have and E700 which I have unlocked from the Orange network and have been using now for nearly a couple of months with my existing O2 Simm card. and it has been perfoming great.

My problem is that for the last 2 or 3 mornings the phone is displaying "limited service". It seems to stay like that for a while and then clears itself. The first time it happend I thought Orange had locked it, but a few minutes later it came back to life.

I woke last night at about 4am and noticed the front display wasn't flashing and sure enough when i opened the phone up it said "limited service" again. When I woke up properly it was working again. About an hour later it had stopped again

My partner has my old phone and his O2 signal was fine. I thought I would try another spare phone. I put the simm card in and it worked fine. I then put it back in the E700 and hey presto its working again. When it has gone off before, I have fiddled, turned off and back on again and it seems to work. Its almost like it needs a bump start to get it working again.

I have not noticed this happen during the day, just first thing in the morning.

Any ideas guys ??

if your phone is showing limited service on all sim sards that mean you have to change PA and antenna switch.
you can also try to full reset the phone by entering *2767*3855# sometime it will remove limited service.
PS: you will loose all your data after resetting.

Good Luck

Thanks for your reply, but excuse my ignorance. What is PA and antenna switch?

I did phone O2 today and I was advised that I may have a faulty sim card. O2 shops are selling them for £4.99 at the moment and they would change my number and credit over FOC.

I can understand if it was all the time, but it just seems to happen "sometimes", but always during the night and never during the day. Wierd or what

You seems that you are not a technician.
PA and antenna switch can not be replaced unless by a technician and with special tools.

Got it sorted

Guess what the cause of the problem was........

Being too near my clock radio. Its the type that automatically get its time updated from the atomic time signal. I noticed this today when I had the radio come on at an earlier time and within a few mintues the radio was making all sorts of wierd noises and the phone was on "limited service"

Moved the phone away, the noise stopped and in a few seconds I got full signal strength again. Put the phone near the clock radio and the noises started up again.

It must be after it has been next to the phone for a certain period of time that it affect the signal.

Sorted and no messing with the phone needed
