Motorola V3r Dead during testpoint

Morning all

I was trying to unlock the Motorola V3r (0A.52) using testpoint but when cutting the shield i think i have damaged the resistor near the testpoint (see picture). The handset no longer powers on and is completely dead.

Is there any way to resurrect this phone? Smartclip cannot detect the phone!

Thanks

Majid

you can fix this problem if you get your meter out and do some testing.

have you fixed the phone? also its not a resistor its a capacitor you have ringed and its connected in parallel to the one to the left of it.

we have seen many dead phones like this.

the answer (fix) is in my post.

if you cannot use a multimeter, its best to find another job.

ok,

you have shorted the cap (this happens mostly when people do the test point but leave the shield touching down on it and hence shorts it out, then when you power the phone is dies), but the one to the left of it is in paralell with it, so just remove the cap you have circled.

missing caps does not power off a phone unless it is grounded its better to test phone if it still powers on after removing the metal cover, you can use another board to test where are this cap is connected to.
try to use a magnifing lenss to check damaged lines. (ripped off from the phones board)

sorry i cant help more

best regards

please read again, the problem is the cap has gone short, there are two caps in parallel one of them has gone short. remove it and the phone will work, tested many times.

yes, you are correct. i tell from experience that this is probably the problem if the phone does not power up after tp unlock.

Thanks guy, the damage was to the capacitor not resistor. I'll change and let you know the details.

Thanks
