I put my on 12V once (normally 9V supply) because Smart Clip said to use 12V. It stop working for about an hour, as if it had over heated. I always leave the power supply set at 9V now.

@ -luigi- & Road_Hog,

Recommended power supply for the Smart-Clip is 12V 750mA.
What power adapter have you used with the Smart-Clip?
What value it has?

Write a letter to support[at]smart-clip.com with the description of the problem and serial number of the Smart-Clip.

Best Regards

Please don't power up your Clip from the battery. Use a stable power adapter instead.

hi

taking a look at sc schematic a 7805 is suplying 5volts and
78L33 suplying 3.3volts,
I think is a good deal use a 9v power supply,
no sure how much power can support that 7805 mounted on sc,
but 12v for 5v is more than double voltage needed which will turn on hot v.regulator,

best regards
Invisible

Smart-Clip holds 12V and 750mA normally. There is no danger for it. Just don't keep it powered ON at all time. Disconnect power from it, when it's not in use. Also, if you are afraid of burning your Smart-Clip, you can alternatively power it up from different source: 10V, 1A.
