Smartclip turns itself off when communicating with activex control

I just got my smart-clip in today and I'm trying to log into boot-loader.com. I'm using the smart-adapter. Every time the activex control tries to scan usb for the smartclip, the power LED's go off on my smartclip. Please help!

If you connect your Clip to PC using LPT cable, then ensure that LPT port is set to EPP mode is BIOS. Also, try disabling firewall and antivirus.

P.S. What power supply do you use with Smart-Clip?

Smart Clip turning itself off

I'm using the smart adapter cable. I have one of those adjustable power supplies. I've tried 9v 1300ma and 12v 1300ma.

Then it may be a problem of SC hardware.
Please send your serial to support[at]smart-clip.com

smartclip started smoking

Just an update on my situation. If anyone else has the same problem, whatever you do, don't try to upgrade your S-card. When you upgrade your s-card it looks for smart-clip. when it looked for my smartclip, MY SMARTCLIP STARTED SMOKING! When I was just trying to login to boot-loader, it would just shut off, but for the update, it almost caught on fire. I'm sending it back on Monday morning for an exchange. I think it is safe to say that the smart-clip was defective. I hope to get it exchanged without hassle so I can test my smart-clip against my rocker dongle.

I don't think you can apply for the warranty exchange as you have used wrong power supply.

The recommended power for Smart-Clip is 10v, 1A or 12v, 750mA. You have used 12V, 1300mA and burned your Clip. There was no defect in the Smart-Clip. You haven't kept the required condition and damaged the equipment. The warranty in not valid any longer.

power supply

I guess the funny part about this whole situation is that there is no "official" power supply for smart-clip. 1300ma should not have burned it up. I have a degree in EE. The damage occurred during communication with the smart-adapter not when I plugged it in.

The smart-clip actually sat for several hours, plugged in, with no problems.

Official Smart-Clip universal stabilized AC/DC power adapter.
And required output is 10V, 1A. Everything above this lever can damage Smart-Clip hardware.
