Unlocking Moto A1000 with Smart Unlocker

Hello forum,

I want to unlock a Moto A1000 with Smart Unlocker V2.17. However, I don't have any experience with that and of course I have some questions before I start:

1. My Smart Unlocker doesn't have a power adaptor. Which kind of power
adaptor does it need?
2. Do I need additional software?
3. Where can I find the right firmware to update the Smart Unlocker?
4. Which kind if cables do I need? I have one USB cable and one
small black cable that contains some thin coloured cables.

Any good advices would be greatly appreciated.

Before you attempt unlocking A1000 with Smart-Unlocker, please consider that no all versions of A1000 are supported by this tool. In order to unlock them all, you might need to use Smart-Clip and SmartMoto.
Please check the sticker under the battery and see what is written there.

Thanks, but where can I find some exact technical documentation about how to use the Smart Unlocker? The info on the website is very general. Also important are the differences between the newest Smart Unlocker and my older Smart Unlocker v2.17 and which phone models are supported and which are not.

2 maccaroni

It's not general. Smart Unlocker is a simple standalone device. It unlock phones with one button.
Quote:
The function of Unlocker is described by its name - it is meant for unlocking phones only
Supported models you can find here.

The latest version of Smart Unlocker is 2.17 and this version doesn't support all A1000 versions.

OK, but how can I ensure that my A1000 model is supported and what happens when I use the unlocker for an unsupported version? Do I get a warning or could the phone become irreversibly damaged? Does compatibility depend on the installed firmware or is it some kind of hardware issue? Which kind of power adaptor does the unlocker need to work?

phone will work but wont be unlocked , difference is in fw and boot version as stated on site "P2K platform: (boot versions 0.6.1.2, 0.6.3.1, 0.6.3.6, 0.8.2.6 and higher - are not supported )"
if have 5 can do this, if 6 u need smart moto and smart clip to unlock by tp.

to work with unlocker u need 9v 500 ma power adaptor. that should be enough

It's difficult to find out the boot version of this phone. The only thing you can do, is try unlocking it strictly following the manual.
Quote:
  1. Power the phone on.
  2. Connect the phone to a powered Unlocker. Phone display should give "USB cable connected" message.
  3. Press UNLOCK button on the Unlocker.
  4. Phone reloads. Within 5-10 seconds phone display gives "Waiting for PST" message.
  5. Press A and B keys simultaneously in upper part of the handset. The phone enters boot mode (if you don't press these 2 keys during "Waiting for PST" message, the Unlocker will give red E/G led and you will have to start with step 1 again).
  6. After A and B keys have been pressed E/G green led will blink and phone reboots. Meanwhile E/G will give frequent green blinking and phone will turn on.
Do not disconnect cell phone from Smart-Unlocker while green led indicator blinks!
  7. Green E/G led glows. The cell phone is unlocked.
If the handset get's unlocked - then it's supported.

I did exactly that, but the LED remained red, seems it's not supported. What does the other approach look like?

In case you want to unlock A1000 with SmartMoto, you need Smart-Clip + S-Card.

General Unlock via TestPoint manual

Sorry, I don't have Smart Clip or S-Card, only Smart-Unlocker. Could someone please move this thread into the Smart-Unlocker subforum?

How does the testpoint unlocking procedure work with Smart-Unlocker?
