Hi,
I also ran in the same wall a few months ago. It seems that Blackberry firmwares which are operator branded can't be freely put on every blackberry using the desktop manager.

You have to restore the blackberry soft by using the desktop manager (I don't remember the name of the function, but it was quite obvious).
*Moreover* you have to use the same Desktop Manager version (and possibly operator version) than the blackberry you use.

So, try to download the DM corresponding to the firmware you want to use; you should find it from the operator website.

Well, I don't know if it exists easier way; maybe there are by replacing the core of the blackberry. But I didn't found anything and I spent more than 3 days googling about it
The error described is just that the blackberry is missing high-levels library. So the way to solve it, is the only way for "usual" customers, and thus is not hard at all (a few clicks are necessaries, and no flash files required as everything is included in the DesktopManager)

Have you tried a soft or hard reset? It may be what the phone ask you to do, at least, I hope :/
Check on the bottom of this page http://uis.georgetown.edu/hardware/b...b.trouble.html to see how to perform those resets.
