I was in the process of contacting him when I was retrying my setup. This time different codes were generated.......which worked. I'm not sure what happened.

When I first worked with the phone I had selected "com port" on the phones screen after inserting cable. When mtk reader told me to power off phone and hold spacebar, it read codes that did not work.

I think by initially selecting com port this may have hampered settings. Today I powered on phone and selected "charge" when I plugged in usb cable. I then powered off and held spacebar, it read codes that worked.

Both scenerios showed the same mtk usb port in device manager.

Keep the space key pressed when you connect phone. Be sure no sim or usb hub used
