UTStarcom GPRS779 Unlock Question

After having problems to recognized this phone, unlock process went fine, phone takes any sim card without ask for the unlock code but isn't actually unlocked (searching networks only found original carrier) and again ask for the unlock code after factory reset, even with original sim.

After searching looks like I need to reflash the phone to get it unlocked but what about imei, is going to be changed? because I need original imei in the phone ...
