Simcard registration failed error!!

Hi all, I using a Nokia 6288 mobile bought from Vodafone NZ, so its a legit phone and expired warranty a while ago. Also i have recently upgraded my firmware from 5.92 to 6.43 and it was working good for 2 days and now i get the error
"Sim card registration failed".

I have got that error 2 times in 3 days and i just press the RED call hang up button and it goes away and i can use the phone as normal. (call, txt and all is fine).

i have also used the same simcard on a Motorola V3x and i never got that error for like 6months or so, but sometimes i don't receive a call randomly (rarely).
If the problem is with the sim, would all GSM phones show that error?

I have just cleaned the contacts of the phone and put it back, ill see if i get the error message again.

But what else i can do?
Thanks all.

Try holding 3 key dial key and hash key then switch on and keep holding untill the phone is fully booted to the screen where you have to set what country your in

This phone this will do a hard reset back to factory settngs and then format your memory card though the phone that should fix it

But backup anything you may want first as you will lose everything on there

I have just previously cleaned the battery contacts and the simcard contacts and turned the phone on. I haven't got that error message yet.
But hopefully that would be problem.

Thanks
