Member: 1084620 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | I-SmartSim and Nokia 6300 firmware problems! I have been trying to unlock my UK O2 Nokia 6300, however lately I have run into problems. Whilst on the 5.5 firmware, it worked fine with a card I got called the I-SmartSim which fits snugly inbetween the SIM card and Phone, however I recently updated the firmware to to see if it would fix a glitch with Contacts. Suddenly I am unable to get any signal, and I get "No network access" errors when trying to select my network. After some research I tried to use JAF to downgrade the Nokia to no avail. Flashing it with any previous version of the firmware causes the phone to become a brick, only showing the nokia logo at bootup and then powering off. However when reflashed with 7.21 it comes back to life again. I have tried various versions of the 7.21 firmware for the phone and none (so far) have unlocked it or solved this issue. What can I do? It is extremely frustrating to have made my nokia useless simply with a firmware upgrade. Has anyone successfully downgraded a 6300? Are there any cracked firmwares available that solve the "No network access" issue? Any help is appreciated. |

Member: 1084620 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Nevermind, I did it! While the phone was connected to USB in Nokia mode, I ran JAF with Factory Set, Downgrade and Normal Mode set. I then used the v6.01 of the firmware (available in RM-217_DP20_5.00_sw-06.01.exe with RM-217_DP20_5.10__sw-06.01.exe). It seems downgrading fails when you try and do it in Dead USB mode. It worked perfectly when it could detect the IMEI etc. through the powered on phone. JAF proves it's awesomeness once again! |

Member: 1374522 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Jim256 - THANK YOU!!! I had also upgraded my 6300 firmware to try to resolve a problem and like you found that the smartsim no longer worked. Your post on the other thread was the only place on the internet that I found the connection between the two. Then seeing your post above gave me confidence that it could be fixed. I had no idea what JAF was all about before this but I found a copy on the ipmart forums which came with some installation instructions and found the two files you referred to above on the net somewhere (just google the filesnames if anyone else needs them). I installed them, then copied your settings for JAF and it worked first time. Now I'm back to v6.01 and the smartsim works again Now all I've got to do is fix the earpiece which is why I ended up in this mess in the first place! Thanks again - awesome stuff! |
