Member: 24408 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | imei change illegalises phone? anyway, i was jsut thinking, if the phone has an imei number that's not recognise, might this accidently happen? another thing, if the police get hold of it and want to check if it's stolen, when they type in the imei number and no results come back ,they'll no it's not the phone's original, whcih immediatly makes them assume it's stolen. they'll take the phone, and give you a warning. am i right? |

Member: 18319 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Yes dude you are right. Am in the uk as well. however let me correct you there just a bit. the way that they ( the networks) block it is they type the IMEI number on to there system and then you make it as there network wont regs the imei when the phone is swiched on. so therefor no network, if the police chacht you with a fone that has had it's imei changed. then they will ask you were did you get the phone from. Or they will asum that you did it therefore you will get 5 year in jail!! and for that matter every phone shop in the uk has the police come in as that i meen small shops not the link dixons t-moble ect ect.... i Hope this makes it clear for every one in the Uk ! |

Member: 11099 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 5 | What would happen if I did for instance a back cover change on a phone. Got the back from a scrap handset. Now the IMEI inside the phone would not match the IMEI on the back. If the police get this phone would they think I have been changing IMEI's???? Where obviously I have not. I assume they would have to prove it. For all of us in th UK carrying out repairs, it may be a good idea to keep the damaged back, just in case. |

Oh another simple questio... If itīs able to change the IMEI and the phone works ok, what happend when other phone uses the same IMEI you use? The network will grant access to 2 phones with same IMEI? Thereīs something wrong on this tail... |
