HELP: firmware for SL56 : Please HELP - GSM-Forum

Hey,
Can someone please help me with something. K, I have a Siemens SL56, and the software/firmware on it is version 6. And on the Siemens website there is an update for the software version 10. I've heard people upgrade theirs and claim it does wonders for reception. so i'd like to do the same. However , heres my problem

On the site there is an AT&T upgrade and a Cingular one. The phone I have is originally from AT&T but its unlocked and I use it for Rogers in Canada. If I upload this software, will it lock the phone back to AT&T or will I be okay.

and lastly, is there anyway to update this software via infrared? or do you have to use DATA CABLE? it says you need a datacable in the COM port of your cpu.

anyways, if anyone can help that would be great. thanks

Via infrared you can't only with cable!!!

Get it from the Siemens website. It will not relock your phone. You can use either the AT&T or Cingular one. Doesn't matter.
