BB5 Restore

Now it is possible to restore the Certificate and Simlock data of a BB5 generation Nokia handsets. Usually this data could be damaged during flashing of a new software version, bug in the firmware or replacing the flash chip if faulty.

It is usefull to reset blocked keypad code counter.

Please read an .ask file with NSS, using F1 device connected or DKU-2/CA53 cable in logger mode if the phone is operational.

Before uploading the .ask file make sure the name is in the following format: <imei>.ask, where imei is as printed on the back sticker - 15 digits.

Note:

If you only resetting Unlock code counter the upload could be done via USB, phone has to be with original simcard, in online mode, and the drivers has to installed.
If you are repairing phone with damaged security area, or phone with changed Flash chip, you have to use F1 for RPL upload. As of NSS version 1.0.38.7 is no longer needed to perform tuning with original equipment after RPL upload. NSS will rebuild the security area automatically after RPL upload.
Simlock after upload will be reset to manufacturing state, e.g. if phone has been manufactured as locked - will stay locked. If you have a keypad unlock code you have to keep it safe, so you can enter it to unlock the handset.
