Wallpaper Size and Phone Screen Resolution - GSM-Forum

Do we need to have exact screen resolution size wallpaper image to set properly without losing quality ?
Or smaller images can also be used without compromising the background image clearness ?
I'm asking this for Samsung Galaxy S9 .

Small image may not look good on device because it will stretch the pixels but large image can be used. For example if you are looking for galaxy S9 wallpapers check here :

Almost all wallpapers in 1440x2960 (S9 screen resolution size).
So exact screen size wallpaper will be ideal choice in my opinion.
